Dr. Jason Corso
Director of SIAI and Chair Professor of Computer Science @Stevens Institute of Technology
As artificial intelligence continues to transform innumerable aspects of everyday life, its impact on education is inevitable. AI offers opportunities such as facilitating independent study and assessing student learning, among other improvements. Its use in the educational environment also presents risks: privacy concerns, limited ability to adapt to individual needs, and others. At the heart of these questions lies the relationship between the AI – or more broadly the computer system – and the human. In this talk, Dr. Jason Corso will present a colorful perspective on the AI-human relationship and how it has evolved over the last few decades. He will discuss specific examples, including the use of AI to improve educational software systems and fight disease, and he will present his perspective on the need for human involvement in AI decision-making. As he considers the past and where we go next, Dr. Corso will also share his outlook on the future of AI and its impacts on education.
